Swanage and the Purbecks Jurassic coast is surrounded by large reefs and banks that are filled with a very large selection of species to tempt any angler. The reefs and banks start to come alive in early spring with the start of the black bream. These fish are hard fighting, great sport and very good to eat. Light tackle is key in order to really appreciate how powerful these fish are! Another bonus for a days bream fishing is that the hot spots are not far from the stunning Jurassic coast line.
From May onwards, the rough ground starts to produce some angry beasts, including large numbers of Tope, Congers, Huss and a mix of Ray’s, which offer great sport and certainly keeps the rods bending. During July, the bream move offshore and can be caught in good numbers a few miles off on the outer banks.
